Tragic Stabbing at Frisco High School Track Meet

The Incident at Kuykendall Stadium

On April 2, 2025, a devastating incident occurred at Kuykendall Stadium in Frisco, Texas. A 17-year-old student fatally stabbed another student, Austin Metcalf, during a confrontation at the high school track meet. The altercation happened around 10 a.m. when the suspect, also 17, became upset after being asked to move from his seat.

Twin Brother Witnesses the Attack

Austin’s twin brother, Hunter, stood nearby when the attack happened. Hunter immediately tried to stop the bleeding and held Austin as he collapsed. Tragically, Austin died in his brother’s arms before paramedics could arrive. Their father, Jeff Metcalf, rushed to the scene. He saw his son unresponsive and rushed him to the hospital, but doctors could not save him.

Austin’s Bright Future Cut Short

Austin excelled academically, maintaining a 4.0 GPA, and he earned MVP honors on his football team. His father, Jeff, described him as a leader who was deeply loved by many. “He was on the right track,” Jeff said, expressing his sorrow for the future his son could have had, including his plans to attend college.

Father Questions the Suspect’s Actions

In a heartfelt interview, Jeff Metcalf questioned the suspect’s decision to bring a knife to the track meet and commit such a violent act. “What kind of parents did this child have? What was he taught?” Jeff asked. Despite his grief, he offered forgiveness. “I already forgive this person. God will take care of it,” Jeff said.

Cherished Memories with Austin

Jeff reflected on the cherished memories he shared with his sons, especially the hunting trips they had taken together. Just last weekend, Austin had caught his first hog, a memory that would forever stay with the family.

Suspect Arrested and Charged with Murder

Frisco police arrested 17-year-old Karmelo Anthony and charged him with murder in connection with Austin’s death. Authorities have not yet set his bond, and it is unclear if he has an attorney. The Frisco Police Department expressed its condolences to the victim’s family and the community.

Track Meet Suspended and Support Offered to Students

Following the stabbing, the 11-5A district track meet was immediately suspended. Students returned to their home campuses, and counselors were made available to provide emotional support. The district plans to recognize Austin’s death during the second period on Thursday.
