John Legend Announces Get Lifted 20th Anniversary World Tour
John Legend has officially unveiled the Get Lifted 20th Anniversary World Tour, bringing his landmark debut album to stages worldwide. The tour will begin on May 27 at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow, UK. Over the course of the tour, Legend will visit more than 40 cities across the UK, Europe, and North America. Some major stops include The O2 in London, Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam, Accor Arena in Paris, Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, and Barclays Center in New York. Additional dates will be announced soon.
Presale and General On-Sale Dates
Presales for the UK and European dates will begin on March 19, with general sales starting on March 21. In North America, presales will start on March 26, followed by general ticket sales on March 28. Fans should prepare early to secure their tickets.
A Tribute to Get Lifted
The Get Lifted 20th Anniversary World Tour will celebrate the full legacy of the album. The iconic album earned eight Grammy nominations and won three prestigious awards at the 48th Annual Grammy Awards, including Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for “Ordinary People,” Best R&B Album for Get Lifted, and Best New Artist.
Throughout the tour, Legend will perform a blend of fan favorites, deep cuts, and refreshed renditions of the album’s most beloved tracks. These include the Grammy-winning “Ordinary People,” “Used to Love U,” “Number One,” and “So High.” The setlist will also include some of Legend’s other career-spanning hits, showcasing his diverse musicality and ability to tell compelling stories.
Special TV Appearance and Guest Artists
To celebrate the tour’s launch, Legend will appear on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon this evening. He will perform “Used to Love U,” accompanied by Black Thought and The Roots. Black Thought is featured on the remixed version of “Used 2 Love U,” which appears in the Get Lifted (20th Anniversary) digital deluxe and 3LP vinyl editions. These editions also feature new contributions from Tems, Killer Mike, Lil Wayne, and Simi. The expanded anniversary release includes 11 bonus tracks, including new remixes, rare B-sides, and two previously unreleased studio performances.
Get Lifted – A Milestone Album
Released on December 28, 2004, Get Lifted introduced John Legend to the world as an artist with immense talent and vision. The album merged R&B, neo-soul, hip-hop, and pop, signaling the arrival of a major new artist. Legend wrote or co-wrote all of the album’s songs and co-produced much of the material. This debut album showcased his gift for songwriting, blending deeply emotional lyrics with soulful melodies.
A Breakthrough for John Legend
Before releasing Get Lifted, Legend had already made his mark as a sought-after musician. He contributed piano on Lauryn Hill’s Everything Is Everything and provided backup vocals for Jay-Z and Alicia Keys. As the first artist signed to Kanye West’s GOOD Music label, Legend found success with Get Lifted, which reached No. 4 on the Billboard 200 and hit No. 1 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. The album sold 116,000 copies in its first week, marking Legend’s first Top 10 debut. He not only bridged genres but also helped redefine the music landscape.
The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) later certified Get Lifted as Double Platinum. Additionally, the hit single “Ordinary People” earned Double Platinum certification, cementing the album’s place in music history.
