LeBron Eases Injury Fears as Lakers Lock In No. 3 Seed
There was a moment of concern for Lakers fans when LeBron James grimaced and headed to the bench in the third quarter. Austin Reaves Shines Behind Luka and LeBron
Austin Reaves would be a second option on nearly any other team, but the Lakers are fortunate to have him as their third scoring threat behind Luka Dončić and LeBron. That depth is part of what makes L.A. so dangerous. Reaves has been on a tear lately and dropped 23 points against Houston on Friday night.
Lakers Dominate Shorthanded Rockets
Coming into Friday’s game, the Lakers knew a win was crucial to lock in the third seed. Luka Dončić delivered in a big way, putting up 39 points in a statement performance.
The Rockets, having already secured the No. 2 seed, rested several key players including Alperen Şengün, Fred VanVleet, and Dillon Brooks. That opened the door for the Lakers to take control early. LeBron helped set the tone with a vintage one-handed alley-oop finish in the first quarter before exiting in the third.
Though LeBron sat the rest of the game, his enthusiastic support from the sideline — especially during Reaves’ fourth-quarter heroics — reassured fans that he’s okay heading into the postseason.
